Risk Management and Operational Resilience

We design and strengthen risk-management and operational-resilience frameworks for regulated financial institutions across the UAE and wider GCC. UAE mandates span enterprise, operational, prudential, financial, outsourcing, technology, cyber, data and digital-asset risk under the relevant FSRA, DFSA, VARA, CMA and CBUAE requirements.

We connect risk appetite and board oversight to the decisions made across products, customers, capital, operations and third parties. The framework is embedded through accountable ownership, risk assessments, controls, limits, indicators, escalation and management information.

We establish the enterprise framework through which material risks are identified, assessed, managed, monitored and reported. The model defines risk ownership, independent challenge, escalation and the relationship between strategy, capital and the institution’s operating model.

Risk appetite is translated from board-level statements into measurable limits, tolerances and management actions. The resulting framework gives decision-makers a consistent basis for accepting, mitigating, transferring or avoiding risk.

Our work covers:

  • Enterprise risk-management framework and taxonomy

  • Three-lines roles, responsibilities and escalation

  • Risk-appetite statements, limits and tolerances

  • Risk policies, standards and acceptance authorities

  • Enterprise risk profile and risk-aggregation approach

  • Board approval, review and breach governance

We design operational-risk frameworks that connect processes, risks, controls, events and issues. The approach is proportionate to the institution’s activities and establishes clear accountability within the business and independent challenge from the risk function.

RCSA is built as a management process rather than a periodic documentation exercise. Assessments are supported by evidence, control evaluation, loss and incident data, KRIs and actions that remain traceable through closure.

Our work covers:

  • Operational-risk framework, taxonomy and policy

  • Process, risk and control mapping

  • RCSA methodology, facilitation and quality review

  • Risk events, losses, incidents and near-miss management

  • KRIs, thresholds, escalation and action tracking

  • Scenario analysis and operational-risk reporting

We advise institutions on the frameworks required to identify and manage risks to capital, liquidity, solvency and financial soundness. Scope is calibrated to the business model and can extend across credit, counterparty, market, concentration, investment and insurance risk.

We connect measurement and stress analysis with limits, governance, management action and regulatory reporting. Formal models, assumptions and expert inputs are subject to appropriate validation and specialist sign-off where required.

Our work covers:

  • Capital and liquidity-risk frameworks

  • Credit, counterparty, market and concentration risk

  • Investment, underwriting and insurance-risk governance

  • ICAAP, ORSA and related prudential-assessment support

  • Stress testing, reverse stress testing and scenario analysis

  • Limits, early-warning indicators and contingency actions

We establish how the institution will continue delivering critical services through disruption. The work begins with critical operations, dependencies, impact tolerances and plausible severe scenarios rather than a generic continuity-plan template.

Resilience arrangements are translated into response, recovery, communication and decision protocols, then tested through exercises. Findings are prioritised by their effect on customers, regulatory obligations, financial soundness and service continuity.

Our work covers:

  • Critical-service and dependency mapping

  • Business-impact analysis and impact tolerances

  • Business-continuity and disaster-recovery frameworks

  • Crisis-management governance and communications

  • Severe-but-plausible scenario design and testing

  • Resilience gaps, remediation and board reporting

We design the governance through which institutions select, contract, oversee and exit material service providers. The framework addresses regulatory accountability, concentration, cross-border delivery, data access, continuity, audit rights and substitutability.

Existing arrangements are assessed against the applicable outsourcing requirements and the institution’s risk appetite. Material weaknesses are converted into contractual, operational and governance actions with clear ownership and deadlines.

Our work covers:

  • Outsourcing and third-party-risk framework

  • Service-provider inventory and materiality classification

  • Due diligence, risk assessment and approval standards

  • Contract, audit-right, data and regulatory-access requirements

  • Ongoing monitoring, concentration and performance oversight

  • Exit, substitution, continuity and regulatory-notification planning

We establish governance and risk frameworks for the technology, information and digital assets on which regulated operations depend. The work connects technical risks to business services, customer exposure, outsourcing, regulatory obligations and executive accountability.

For digital-asset and technology-led models, we address custody, key management, wallets, blockchain dependencies and emerging-technology risks. Formal penetration testing, certification and specialist engineering opinions are coordinated where required.

Our work covers:

  • Technology and cyber-risk governance

  • Information-security, access and change risk

  • Data governance, quality, privacy and retention risk

  • Cloud, platform and technology-provider risk

  • Digital-asset custody, wallet and key-management risk

  • AI, model and emerging-technology risk governance

We define the governance through which risk is challenged, escalated and acted upon. The model establishes the mandate of the risk function, committee authorities, business ownership, breach protocols and the information required for effective oversight.

Risk reporting is built around decisions rather than volume. KRIs, limits, incidents, emerging risks and remediation are presented with clear thresholds, trends, causes and required management action.

Our work covers:

  • Risk-function mandate, independence and resourcing

  • Board and management risk-committee governance

  • KRI architecture, limits and escalation thresholds

  • Enterprise and business-unit risk reporting

  • Breach, exception and risk-acceptance governance

  • Risk culture, training and management accountability
